I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to turn off the proximity sensor on my Solterra’s key fob, like I used to on my old Subaru. It was super helpful for leaving the key in the car when I’d go surfing or do any activity where I didn’t want to carry it around.

Also, on my old Subaru, there was a button near the trunk latch to program a code for keyless entry, perfect for those key-free moments! I see a similar button on my Solterra, but it doesn’t seem to work the same way, and I’m scratching my head over it. Has anyone managed to get it working, or know if it’s possible?

Appreciate any insights! The dealer and Subaru support have been … less helpful than I’d hoped. 😂

Did you try doing these steps?

These steps are from the manual:

[On the key fob] press and hold [lock] then press [unlock] twice.

- Confirm that the electronic key indicator flashes 4 times.

- While the battery-saving mode is set, the smart key system cannot be used.

- To cancel the function, press any of the electronic key buttons.

I feel you, leaving the key behind is so handy for outdoor activities. I haven’t figured out a way to disable the proximity sensor on the Solterra, but I’ve heard some people use waterproof key pouches if they need to bring the key along. As for the button near the trunk, it might require specific setup steps in the manual, if it works at all, worth giving that another look.

Yup, I had an issue with my previous Subaru, where the proximity sensor kept activating when I didn’t need it. I was able to turn it off in the settings, but it took a little digging through the manual. As for the keyless entry code, I remember my old car had a button near the trunk for programming it, but it was a bit finicky. I’d recommend checking any related settings in the infotainment system or trying to reset the button, it might work once it’s activated correctly.
