This morning, I struggled to close the Apple Car Play window to access the multimedia settings and radio. I fiddled with the system, but toggling back to the home screen proved elusive. While I can switch media sources with the steering wheel controls, I crave full access to the radio and settings.

Subaru, of course, loves to "pop us out of CarPlay" and back into the vehicle screens. The icon in the lower left cycles through the display options, one of which is the apps. Just another way to keep us on our toes
I'll try using the icon in the lower left for display options, it's annoying when CarPlay constantly switches back, but hopefully this helps.

It sounds like your Solterra's system froze up a bit. These integrated systems can be unpredictable. There's usually a way to switch back like a button or swipe but they don't always work smoothly. Try holding down the home button or restarting the system next time.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking! @Bob1 give the home button or a restart a shot next time.

You might wanna see if there is an update for your cars software or your phone.
