Hello drivers! Is it normal for my heater to take over 5 minutes to start producing heat after I turn it off and back on? Sometimes it works faster, but other times it is delayed. Any ideas? Could this be a thermostat issue?

Hey! I haven't come across this either, but I never turn off my HVAC. I keep it in ECO Auto mode and just adjust the temperature as needed.

I've run into this a few times myself, but I can't quite figure out what's causing it.

That five-minute delay for your heater is too long and not typical for today;s cars. It could be the thermostat but also the heater core, blower motor, or even a software issue. The inconsistent timing is concerning. I'd advise taking it to a mechanic as a slow heater could mean a bigger problem with your cooling system. You definitely don't want to risk overheating especially with cold weather approaching.
