I'm dealing with a weird issue with my cars’ windows. I keep getting notifications saying they're open, but they look closed. Plus, they're acting all funky when I try to adjust them. Anyone else had this happen?!

Check out the owner's manual for the side windows reset trick - it’s totally worth a try! Just follow the recalibration steps they’ve got in there and see if that sorts things out.

Got the driver side window working! Now I'm trying to follow the steps for the back window as well. Fingers crossed it works! Thanks a ton!

I had a similar issue with my other car (though it wasn't a Subaru). All I had to do was clean the window! I knew it was dirty, but I kept putting it off. Turns out, the dirt was creating extra resistance, which was tripping the crush protection system. That's why the window would start to go up and then suddenly reverse.

To be honest, your window doesn't look that dirty, but it's still worth a try. Even though my window didn't look super dirty either, it was enough to cause the problem.

You can actually hear the motor change its sound when it's struggling. It goes 'eeeee-ooowww-wrwrwrwrwrwrwr' – 'eeeee' is normal, 'ooowww' is when it starts slowing down, and then 'wrwrwrwrwr' is when it reverses.

There might be just enough dirt on the window itself and in the window seals to cause this. Try cleaning them both – it might be the easiest solution before you start looking for more complicated fixes.

It sounds like you’re unsure whether they’re actually closed or not.:) Try cleaning them thoroughly first. Sometimes dirt, dust, or debris can build up and cause the sensors to malfunction or misinterpret something. After cleaning check again to see if the issue persists
